“Top-30 Longevity Conferences 2019-2020” is a 60-page open-access analytical report by Aging Analytics Agency that uses cost-benefit analysis to identify the Top-30 Longevity Conferences globally taking place in 2019-2020, including detailed analysis and infographics on their regional distribution, cost, and focus.

The report is complemented by a comprehensive online Longevity Conferences IT-Platform that contains data on 150 Longevity-related conferences taking place in 2019-2020.

With the rapid development of the Longevity industry in recent years, the number of events dedicated to this topic has increased proportionately. These events differ from one another in a number of ways including target audience, scope of featured topics, entrance fee range, region and venue, etc. Potential participants need to be aware of such details while planning which conferences to attend.

This report aims to serve as a guide in this type of decision making, which also includes a cost-benefit analysis of the conferences themselves.

The list of Top-30 Longevity conferences featured in the report, chosen from among 150 Longevity-themed conferences in total, satisfy the following criteria:

  • They are well attended, with a large number of speakers as well as participants

  • They include at minimum one panel on the topic of Longevity

  • They feature speakers who are professionals in the industry

Since the turn of the century, a number of conferences have proven to have a seminal role, often acting as centres of gravity for the industry or any of its constituent technologies. In many cases, however, their full significance does not become apparent without the benefit of hindsight.

It is for these reasons that the report contains a section on the influential past conferences (with an emphasis on the rapid succession of Longevity conferences hosted by prominent financial institutions and media brands in the past few years) that helped to solidify Longevity as the prominent, mainstream topic that it is today.

The rapid succession of finance-centred conferences that occurred in 2016-2018 marked a turning point for the maturation of the industry. The Business of Longevity panel discussion at the 2017 Financial Times' Global Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Conference, for example, followed close on the heels of The Economist's Business of Longevity Conference in Hong Kong on October 27th, 2017. This constellation of Longevity-themes events held by prominent financial institutions and media brands was not a chance occurrence but a legitimate trend, given the World Economic Forum's 2017 Prosperity in the Age of Longevity panel discussion in Davos, and The Economist's Ageing Societies 2016 in London, as well as The Business of Longevity 2017 and 2018 conferences in San Francisco and Singapore.

The fact that very well-renowned and respected brands such as The Economist and Financial Times are now regularly hosting conferences and panel discussions on the subject of ageing shows the credibility building around the business of Longevity. A mere three years ago optimism toward the real emergence of geroscience and Longevity was very low, and it was nearly unthinkable that this topic could be included in the agenda of top-tier conferences whatsoever. But the outlook has now changed, and the healthspan extension is now a logical topic of discussion for world-leading healthcare thought-leaders. The science of ageing has matured, and we are now witnessing the dawn and rise of the Longevity industry.

Thus, Aging Analytics Agency’s “Top-30 Longevity Conferences 2019 - 2020” aims to give an overview of both the recent history, present state and near-future of the global Longevity conferences landscape, identifying key trends based on an analysis of the regional, topical scope and price-point data analysis.
